This year we held two (2) successful presentations on the topics of ‘The Effects of Coercive Control Laws on Indigenous Women and Families‘ and ‘Indigenous Data Sovereignty‘. Both were well attended by a wide audience across Australia including academics, policy makers, government departments, legal services and not for profit organisations, who were able to take away the insights and learnings provided by our knowledgeable presenters.

Four Newsletters were sent to IJC subscribers advising of events, publications and new resources posted to the site including:

• Research Brief no 31 – Domestic Violence Responses for Incarcerated Indigenous Women in Australia and New Zealand by Doreen Chen. The paper describes five recent initiatives in Australia and New Zealand which focus on violence and trauma prevention and summarises some of their successful programming elements.
• Research Brief no 32  –  Prevention and early intervention programs for Indigenous young people in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand by Rachel Stringfellow, Juan Tauri and Kelly Richards.
• The announcement of the successful applicants for the Indigenous Justice Research Program. 
• Justice Reinvestment in Australia. A Review of Progress and Key Issues (Fiona Allison and Chris Cunneen).
• The Bugmy Bar Book (The Bugmy Bar Book Project Team).
• Yarning about yarning: A literature review on the use of justice yarning circles in Australia (Helen Taylor and Lorana Bartels).

Information on a recent book release titled Children, Care and Crime: Trauma and Transformation (Alison Gerard, Andrew McGrath, Emma Colvin and Annette Gainsford) has also been added to our resources.

Over 60 other resources were loaded to the site including the Annual Closing the Gap reports from the Commonwealth and various States and Territories, which are available in the Closing the Gap resources.
