This is the second report on the Australian Government’s program to reduce the gaps in life opportunities between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. Progress is reported against the targets relating to life expectancy, child mortality, early childhood education, school progress, educational status and employment outcomes. Investments in programs to run for several years under the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) partnerships schemes have been made in health, housing, early childhood education, economic development and remote service delivery and are outlined. The report notes that data are not yet available to monitor progress over the two years to date, but improvements in data collection and reporting are under way. Nevertheless, available relevant data are presented and achievements to date are noted. Case studies illustrate programs and progress.
