Description
This article considers the experience of removal and institutional and out-of-home care, with a particular focus on the removal of Indigenous Australian children. Reports and legal actions since the 1997 Bringing Them Home Report documented the systemic removal of Indigenous Australian children from their families and culture, are discussed. The need for an integrated approach to the consequences for the stolen generations , care leavers, their families and their communities is highlighted.
