Report of the Royal Commission and Board of Inquiry into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory (vol 3A)

Description

This report investigates the detention, care and protection systems for children and young people in the NT. The report examines instances of abuse and mistreatment experienced by children, the vast majority of whom are Aboriginal. The report contains recommendations about detention centres, the legislative processes and human rights failures in the youth justice and child protection systems. It was handed down in 2017 and contributed to the closure of the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre.
